Moving large and heavy items is not simply a matter of having enough people. It takes an understanding of weight distribution, of where an item is structurally weak, and of how to turn a several-hundred-pound object through a doorway without touching the frame. It also takes the right equipment, brought to your door on the first trip.

Before moving day, we ask about the item, its approximate weight and dimensions, the floors and stairs on both ends, and any tight turns. That conversation sets the crew size, the equipment on the truck and the price on your itemized quote.
Furniture is where most large item moves start. Sectionals, king and California king bed frames, dining tables with leaves, armoires, entertainment centers, china cabinets and solid wood dressers are heavy, awkward and easy to scratch, and they usually have to come apart before they can go anywhere. Antique and heirloom furniture. Large antique pieces such as armoires, buffets, china cabinets and ornate headboards combine size and weight with delicate finishes and real sentimental value. We wrap and pad each piece to protect its finish, secure loose parts such as doors and drawers, and take apart what should come apart before it is carried. Disassembly and reassembly on request. Ask for disassembly and we include it, along with reassembly at the new home. Bed frames, table legs and leaves, sectional pieces and dresser mirrors come apart at the old home and go back together in the right room at the new one. If something will not fit through a doorway in one piece, we plan the angle or the disassembly before the truck arrives.

A pool table looks like one piece of furniture, but it is really a frame, a set of rails, a cloth surface and a slate bed that has to be leveled again once it is put back together. A slate table can weigh several hundred pounds, and most of that weight is in the slate. Sliding or tipping a table in one piece can crack the slate or rack the frame, which is why our pool table movers take the table down before it leaves the room.
When you request a quote, tell us the table size (most home tables are 7, 8 or 9 feet), whether the slate is one piece or three, the brand if you know it, and whether the table is going upstairs, downstairs or into storage.
We remove the pockets, rails and felt, then lift out the slate. Felt, rails and slate removal is the standard first step on every pool table move.
Each slate piece is padded and secured for transport, and the rails, legs and hardware are wrapped so nothing is scratched or lost. The slate and frame travel strapped and braced inside the truck so nothing shifts on the road.
At your new home, we reassemble the frame, set the slate, and level the playing surface so the table plays the way it did before the move. A level surface is the whole point of the job, so leveling is part of every pool table setup we do.
Cloth that comes off cleanly can often be put back on. Older cloth, or cloth glued firmly to the slate, may not survive removal, so mention its age and condition when you request a quote. The felt and rails go back on, and we check that the playing surface is level and ready to use.
Safes are among the heaviest items in any home or business. A compact home safe may be manageable for a small crew, while a full-size gun safe can weigh many hundreds of pounds, even empty. That weight sits on a small footprint, so it concentrates on floors, stair treads and truck ramps. Our safe movers plan each move around the safe’s weight, the route and the floor it will end up on.

Stairs are where safe moves go wrong. Our team uses specialized stair-climbing equipment and coordinated lifting so the safe moves one controlled step at a time instead of being muscled down. We pad the stair railings, use floor runners at the top and bottom, and check the landing before the safe arrives.
Many gun safes are bolted to a garage slab or closet floor, so mention it when you request your quote. Decide where the safe will go before moving day, too. A garage or ground-floor room is easier on the floor and the crew, and once a heavy safe is set, nobody wants to move it twice.
Empty it. Remove cash, documents, jewelry, firearms and ammunition and carry them yourself. Keep the door closed and locked. A swinging door is heavy and dangerous on a dolly. Know the specs. Find the brand, model or dimensions so we can plan for the weight. Clear the route. Move cars, bikes and storage bins out of the garage path and clear both landings. If your safe is going to a second floor, check that the room and floor can carry the load, and mention it when you request your quote.

We do not recommend it for a slate table. The slate carries most of the table’s weight, and sliding or tipping the table in one piece can crack it or twist the frame. Our pool table movers take off the felt, rails and slate, move each part padded and secured, then reassemble and level the table at your new home.
Not always. Cloth in good shape can often go back on the same table. Worn cloth, or cloth glued firmly to the slate, may not come off intact. Let us know how old your felt is and what condition it is in when you request a quote, so the plan for your table covers it from the start.
Gun safe moving costs depend mainly on the safe’s weight and size, any stairs or steps on the route, and the distance between homes.
